Back in the days of yore - before the beforetimes - Olias Nil (of names_of_music and The Fire Show) oftimes found himself betwixt guitar and 4-track with sundry keyboards, drums, horns, violins, and noisy things. With nothing better than to make songs by recording them (or record them by making them), Nil poured heart and soul and humor and distortion and anxiety and foolish yearnings into a drawerfull of experio-ments and confessions that never left the drawer. Here we remedy that with this collection of offhanded, evenhanded, caught-redhanded, and backhanded complements to his elsewhere contributions. Offered humbly in the spirit (if not the letter) of Robert Wyatt, Alex Chilton, Robert Pollard, Smog, East River Pipe, and other denizens of the deepest, darkest recesses of fidelity.
